This guide was created to address the needs of Veterans in the greater Long Beach area during the coronavirus pandemic. The resources and information in the following pages are meant to guide organizations who work with Veterans.

LONG BEACH LIBRARY

LONG BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY helps veterans and their families through their Veterans Resource Center at the Main Library.
Veterans can visit the Veterans Resource Center to learn about state and federal education, employment, housing, health, disability, and other benefits that may be available to you and your family

Fraud Protection

If someone tells you they are selling a cure for coronavirus, a vaccine or a home test kit, do not believe them. These do not exist at this time, and might be dangerous to you and your family.

Students receiving GI Bill benefits are not required to take any action. Benefits will continue automatically.

Financial Assistance

The Department of Defense (DOD) Hardship Duty Pay – The DOD has authorized each military branch to pay up to an additional $1500 per month to service members if they have to restrict their movement due to exposure or potential exposure to COVID-19. Service relief organizations can provide emergency financial help to veterans with interest-free loans and grants. VA Medical Appointments & Prescriptions

Options for telehealth appointments and services: Veterans can use Secure Messaging through My HealtheVet to send a message to a provider. Veterans can also use the VA appointments tool to request a telehealth appointment online. Options for obtaining prescriptions: Veterans can access the online prescription refill and tracking tool to refill or renew prescriptions.
