If you are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, stay at home and contact your medical provider. If you do not have a primary care doctor, contact the City’s Public Health Info Line at (562) 570-INFO (4636). Long Beach Testing Sites
Free diagnostic testing in Long Beach is available for anyone interested in getting testing for COVID-19.
If employees do not have symptoms and have not had any recent close contact with someone who has COVID-19, they do not need to get tested before returning to work. Businesses that do require that their employees be tested should work with their insurance providers or private testing organizations to provide this testing for employees.
Appointments required: Appointments can be made online and are prioritized for those 65 years or older; individuals with underlying chronic health conditions; and first responders, critical government workers, grocery workers, and health care professionals. Individuals who do not have access to the Internet or need assistance making an appointment online can call the City’s InfoLine at (562)570-INFO (4636) (open Monday-Friday, 9am to 5pm).
Most test results will be processed within 72 hours.

We strongly encourage all Long Beach residents who are interested in being tested to first contact their Primary Care Provider or Healthcare Center about receiving a test at their facility. If you do not have access to this care or are unable to contact them, free testing is available at the locations below.

CVS Testing
CVS Health is offering free COVID-19 testing to residents in select states, including California. Patients must legally reside in the state where the test is given and be 18 years of age or older. Long Beach residents must schedule an appointment at CVS in advance. Results typically take 2-4 days but may take 5-7 days in times of peak demand, and are made available via an emailed link.
You will need to show proof of your identity and birthdate. You’ll also need to show your appointment confirmation, either by email or text message. Be sure to have your mobile phone in case they need to reach you.

Rite Aid Testing
Select Rite Aid locations are offering free COVID-19 testing to anyone with a government-issued ID. Patients must be 18 years of age or older and must pre-register online to schedule an appointment at a Rite Aid.
The sites will utilize self-swab nasal tests overseen by Rite Aid pharmacists and will operate weekdays from 10 a.m to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Results typically take 2-7 days, though due to the current volume of test processing, your test results may take longer than expected. Results will be made available to you through the email address you provide at registration.

Covid-19 Mobile Testing
Mobile testing is available for those who cannot leave their residences for various reasons (such as mobility issues or underlying health conditions). Mobile testing can be done at residences or facilities such as sober living homes, skilled nursing facilities, and other congregate facilities. To request mobile testing, complete this form or call the Public Health Info Line at (562) 570-4636 (open Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm). Testing is available Monday through Friday.
When to seek Emergency Care
If you develop emergency warning signs for COVID-19, you should get medical attention immediately. Emergency warning signs include:
- Trouble breathing
- Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
- New confusion
- Inability to be roused/awakened
- Bluish lips or face
Call 911 if you have a medical emergency: Notify the operator that you have, or think you might have, COVID-19. If possible, put on a cloth face covering before medical help arrives.
Isolation And Quarantine
- If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or been told by a clinician that you are presumed to be positive, you are required to isolate yourself at home.
- Regardless of the outcome of your test, if you had close contact with someone who has or is likely to have COVID-19 in the past 14 days, you are required to quarantine yourself at home.
